In accordance with the framework and architecture of SD-WAN service that was defined in Recommendation ITU-T Q.3741. This Recommendation provides monitoring parameters of the signalling protocols that carry out the key capabilities of SD-WAN service.
As mentioned in Q.3741, “automatic monitoring” is one of the key capabilities of SD-WAN service. So, it is necessary to specify the monitoring parameters of the SD-WAN.
The monitoring objectives could be the protocols to carry out 4 key capabilities of the SD-WAN service. They are necessary to be monitored to help maintaining the stability and efficiency of SD-WAN service.
Automated provisioning. Monitoring the protocols to carry out automated provisioning could help to provide stable, reliable and efficient automated provisioning the SD-WAN service the furthermore significantly save delays and cost in provisioning cycles of remote sites.
Scalable and redundant networking. Monitoring the protocols to carry out the scalability and redundancy of networking, also with dynamic multi-path optimization could help to guarantee the efficient WAN bandwidth and link utilization.
Dynamic multi-path optimization. Monitoring the protocol to carry out the flexibility of dynamic multi-path optimization could help to guarantee the efficient WAN bandwidth and link utilization.
Link remediation. Monitoring the protocol to carry out the link remediation could help to detect link failures or corruptions before they become completely non-recoverable.
In conclusion, the key capabilities of SD-WAN service are required to be monitored to ensure its reliability, availability, etc. So this contribution proposes to specify parameters for monitoring the protocols to carry out the key capabilities of the SD-WAN service.
