Summary: In the era of IMT-2020 and beyond, with the continuous enrichment of business scenarios such as interactive live broadcasting, video surveillance, cloud conferencing, smart industry, and AI applications, the requirements of video traffic delivery guarantee, ultra-latency guarantee and large data storage and processing are becoming more and more common, which causes high demand of infrastructure resources. Traditional resource scheduling mechanisms can not generate the most suitable scheduling policies since they don’t take multiple resource status into consideration, thus, the scheduling efficiency is limited, and users’ experience is not the best. In order to meet the multi-scenario and personalized needs of users, it is necessary to comprehensively sense, analyze, and measure multi-type resources such as network, computing, and storage, so as to realize the most suitable scheduling solution for users service. Integrated scheduling of multi-type resources determines the optimal scheduling strategy based on QoS goals, resource status, and business load trend, improving scheduling efficiency and resource utilization. SG13 and SG11 have some resource scheduling related work. For example, ITU-T Y.3156 describes the framework for the AI-assisted analysis of network slicing in IMT-2020 networks, , and briefly introduces slice resource scheduling scheme. ITU-T Y.cro-reqts provides the overview of computing-aware networking and the functional requirements of computing-aware networking, aims to provide joint scheduling policy generation in the scope of cloud computing. Y.M&O-CNC-fra introduces the requirements and architectural model of management and orchestration enhancement for the resource scheduling. ITU-T Q.3058 provides the signalling architecture for orchestration in next generation network evolution (NGNe), and introduces the reference points and specifies the mapping of reference points to interfaces in the signalling architecture of orchestration in NGNe. ITU-T Q.5020 specifies the protocol requirements and procedures for life cycle management of network slices, introduces allocation of the necessary resources of network slices. This proposed new work item aims to enhance interfaces and specify message format for supporting multi-type resources sensing, control, integrated scheduling and orchestration, including IMT-2020 network resources and cloud resources for supporting IMT-2020 network services, which has no overlap with the work mentioned above. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the resource scheduling protocol, enhance the interface capabilities for supporting multi-type resources awareness and collection, applications’ resources requirements parsing, integrated scheduling policies provision and distribution, so as to provide most suitable resources scheduling solution and enhance the user experience.
