Summary: As the building sector accounts for a significant portion of total energy consumption, efforts are being made to increase energy efficiency in buildings through solutions like smart home, smart building, and smart factory. To effectively support this in smart cities, it is crucial to have city-level energy data sharing and analytics for city energy services and intelligent energy applications. This allows energy consumption and production information to be shared among buildings with different energy consumption patterns or renewable energy production to increase energy efficiency. To enable the city-level energy data sharing and analytics, standardized specifications for energy data types and exchange methods are essential. This draft Recommendation specifies requirements and architectural models for city-level energy management that facilitate data exchange, sharing and analytics among buildings in smart cities. It also provides use cases to support energy planning, management and energy data sharing through city energy services for smart sustainable cities.
