Background
With greater penetration of broadband worldwide and the recent advances in technologies for the distribution of high volume content, IPTV services promise to bring about a revolution in the way we view this content.
Expectations of IPTV continue to rise and it has become a major business opportunity for a wide variety of stakeholders. There are already millions of IPTV service subscribers globally.
However, some regional gaps in deploying IPTV are still observed. In order to further promote IPTV deployment worldwide as well as facilitate an open, fair and sound competition in this field regional concerns, such as, regulatory issues, case studies and other needs have to be taken into consideration and fully understood.
Objectives
This workshop will facilitate the dialogue among various stakeholders, such as regulators, broadcasters, telecoms companies, service providers, IPTV experts, laboratories, manufactures, system integrators, content providers, end-users and others, especially but not limited to the Arab region. The event aims at sharing information and further promoting cooperation among organizations interested in IPTV deployment and standardization.
