CoE Europe Network

Introduction

The ITU Academy Centres of Excellence (CoE) in Europe represent a sustainable network of selected training and educational institutions (hereafter “nodes”) that provide training opportunities in topics related to telecommunications and/or information and communication technologies (ICTs).

 Objective

The Centres of Excellence network for Europe aim at providing sustainable and long-lasting capacity building solutions for decision-makers and senior level officials in the telecommunication sectors in the region. The centres strive for excellence amongst potential training content providers such as universities, technological institutions, training centres etc. as well as service and technology providers to provide best in class on-line training solutions together with face-to-face workshops.

Development Strategy

The strategic purpose of this CoE network is to strengthen the region's capacity to generate knowledge and experience in:

    • Telecommunication policy,
    • Regulatory issues,
    • Telecommunication management,
    • New technologies and services

with a view to adequately meeting the human resources and training and development needs of the region. These CoEs also serve to enhance the role of telecommunications and ICTs as a tool for development. Furthermore, the CoEs support the work of the National Regulatory Authorities (NRA) in their efforts to effectively create knowledge economies and information societies throughout Europe. At all times the nodes seek to avoid duplication of efforts, and promote regional collaboration in the telecommunication sector among policy makers, regulators and the private sector to promote the harmonization of the region’s telecommunication markets.
