GENERAL INFORMATION

​We invite you to take part in the Special Session dedicated to International Girls in ICT Day and Network of Women, which will be held on the second day of Regional Preparatory Meeting for WTDC-21 for CIS Region on 22 April 2021, 13:15-14:45 hrs. (GMT+3) on Zoom platform.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the International Girls in ICT Day, and we can already highlight some of the results of the implementation of Resolution 70 (Rev. Dubai, 2018) of the Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union (Guadalajara, Mexico, October 2010) “Mainstreaming a gender perspective in ITU and promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women through telecommunications/information and communication technologies".

In the panel discussion of the Special Session RPM-CIS women delegates and Generation Connect Youth Group for CIS will be invited to discuss the opportunities of professional fulfilment of girls/women in the ICT and through ICT. Participants will be able to share information of the implementation of ICT projects by girls/women, tell ​of girls/women contribution to scientific research, development of learning/educational programmes aimed at digital inclusion, digital skills development, professional trainings etc. The participants may also cover the topic of stereotypes relating to women and try to respond to the question if stereotypes and traditional notion of man and woman profession impact the choice of professional education by today's girls finishing schools and gender balance in career development in the ICT sector.
