H.E. Minister Mr. MIAO Wei, male, was born in May 1955. He graduated from Hefei University of Technology with a major in internal combustion engine in 1982. He successively served as Deputy Manager of China Automobile Sales and Service Company, Deputy Manager of the Production Group and Deputy Director-General of the Production Department, China National Automotive Industry Corporation, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Automobile Industry of the Ministry of Machinery Industry and Deputy Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Machinery Industry. He was appointed Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of Dongfeng Motor Corporation in September 1997 and General Manager and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of Dongfeng Motor Corporation in March 1999. He was appointed member of the Standing Committee of CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee in May 2005. He was appointed Vice Minister and Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in March 2008 and Minister and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in December 2010.
