The first Secretary General of the Office of Nataional Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission or NBTC since January 2012, Takorn Tantasith, has dedicated his willingness and determination fostering NBTC with his nine years experience in telecommunication regulations organization. His priorities have been to mobilize the organization around a set of challenges, from national, regional, and to international level in order to conform to the converging environment and fast-growing of telecommunication and ICT sector. Mr. Takorn's role also includes a bridge-builder between NBTC's commissioners and the office of NBTC.
Prior to joining NBTC, Mr. Takorn held important positions in Bureau of Budget and Office of the Auditor General of Thailand. By being an advisor of Senate House Committee of Communication for years, Mr. Takorn then built his solid career in telecom industry. He was also the last Secretary General of the Office of National Telecommunications Commission or NTC.
Mr. Takorn has determined to see this organization deliver tangible and meaningful outcomes that advance transparent telecommunication business with fair and free competition along with promoting and empowering quality telecommunication and broadcasting services expansion. His vision for the year 2013 and beyond has been proclaimed as a golden year of enhancing consumer protection by aiming better consumer welfare functioning as NBTC's core value. He also has emboldened universal services to ensure accessibility, availability, and affordability of telecom and broadcasting basis in order to strengthen national primary health care (telemedicine) and educational system (distance learning) especially in the three southernmost border provinces.
Correspondingly, in September 2013, Prince of Songkla University (Thailand) awarded Mr. Takorn an honorary doctorate of political and administrative science based on those performances. Mr. Takorn has committed to continue his dedications in developing telecommunication/ICT sector and providing maximum benefits including education, culture, national security and other public for Thai people and societies as a whole.
