Stakeholders participating in workshopDespite massive investment in digital ecosystems, countries are unable to adapt to the fast-changing digital environment and technological revolutions. Very few are empowered to understand, diagnose and intervene in increasingly complex  enabling environments that are powered by innovation and entrepreneurship. ITU has developed two toolkits and a learning curriculum to help build stakeholders’ capabilities in innovation and entrepreneurship.

​Innovation Ecosystem 101:Fundamentals on building competitive and innovative ICT-centric ecosystems
The course is Intended for policy-makers, decision-makers, innovators and ecosystem builders who wish to build thriving entrepreneurial communities that can navigate technological revolutions and create competitive ICT industries. The course introduces key terminologies, concepts, tools and steps to assess your country's innovation capacity through practical information. Upon completion of the course, you will understand: Innovation, digital ecosystems and digital transformation, and their relationship to national development priorities.

Global South Covid-19 Digital Innovation Challenges Bootcamp 101

​This boot camp is exclusively for the winners of the 2021 Global South COVID-19 Innovation Challenge. The challenge, co-organized by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), sought scalable innovative digital solutions that will:

1. enable countries, societies, communities, institutions and individuals from the Global South to deal with the cascading effects of the pandemic across governance, economy, social sectors and wellbeing; and
2. contribute to the organizations' respective focus on South-South Cooperation and digital technologies.

Participants will begin by completing the self-paced portion of the course, followed by three mandatory webinars.

The webinars will focus on:

1. refining their business plans using the ecosystem business canvas
2. building an ecosystem strategy
3. learning how to identify additional resources to scale up their projects

Upon completion of the boot camp, participants will earn a certificate and be matched with mentors who will help them scale up their projects in another Global South country.

Digital Innovation Ecosystem Training: Building entrepreneurial communities and competitive ICT industries for job creation ​

This course is by invitation only. The Digital Innovation Ecosystem Training (DIET) is a six-session curriculum designed to empower policy-makers, academics, innovators and ecosystem-builders who wish to build thriving entrepreneurial communities that can navigate technological revolutions and create competitive ICT industries. This boot camp, which uses a joint Smart Africa Digital Academy and Digital Innovation Ecosystem ITU Academy curriculum, draws on toolkits, ecosystem assessments and roadmaps, forums and good practice research. Building on a knowledge base developed by ITU and its partners, the boot camp is best for those wishing to become experts in transforming their ICT ecosystems into innovative and entrepreneurial powerhouses, and/or those who have a project idea about nurturing entrepreneurship or digital innovations, but need to conceptualize it and make it bankable. Using a practical and highly participative approach, this training will deliver a combination of expert-led online learning, webinars and virtual co-creation sessions. The curriculum introduces key terminologies, concepts, frameworks and tools to assess a country's innovation capacity through practical information, and helps participants develop a bankable project or initiative. Participants will learn to assess their ecosystems' performance, and build remarkable projects using a step-by-step approach; providing an opportunity for national innovation training.

The course is aimed at policy makers, decision makers, innovators and ecosystem actors who wish to build successful entrepreneurial communities able to cope with technological revolutions and create competitive ICT companies. The course presents the essential terms, concepts, tools and steps to assess the innovation capacity of your country through practical information.

​Bridging the Digital Innovation Divide: Developing remarkable projects that accelerate your digital innovation ecosystem global competitiveness
This is a train-the-trainer course for those wishing to become expert in delousing their ICT ecosystem into innovative powerhouse using ITU approach. On completion of this course, the learner wi​ll know how to assess their ecosystem performance, and build remarkable projects using the step-by-step tools from the ITU's toolkit (II) for developing sustainable ICT-centric ecosystem projects. The learner will be familiar with key tools, how to conduct desktop research, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and co-creation workshops.

ITU Innovation Challenges Bootcamp 101
     
The course is intended for policy-makers, decision-makers, innovators and ecosystem builders who wish to build thriving entrepreneurial communities that can navigate technological revolutions and create competitive ICT industries. This 2nd edition is primarily for the winners of the ITU challenges ​and prospective participants to the regional innovation forums and global innovation forums. The course introduces key terminologies, concepts, tools and steps to assess your country's innovation capacity through practical information.
