and Samsung are proud to announce the winners of the 2017 ITU Regional Competition for Latin America and the Caribbean “Mobile Applications for Accessibility”:

Mauro Alvarez and Federico Rufrancos from Argentina won in the category 1 - Product under conception or development - of the ITU Samsung contest with the application Talk-Louder. The idea is to develop a mobile digital communicator to enable and to optimize the interaction between a deaf person and a hearing person who is not familiarized with signal language.

Robson Fidalgo and Thiago Lima from Brazil won in the category 2 - Product available for use - of the contest. Its entry, aBOARD, is a platform composed by  the application aBOARD (for users with speaking difficulties), the web aBoard editor (for mediators, family and education/health professionals) and by the aBoard server (to authenticate the users and save the vocabulary produced).


ABOUT

The event will focuses on promoting further the development of accessibility in countries and institutions, through the effort and cooperation of stakeholders and sharing successful outcomes of projects and initiatives already implemented, in order to interchange resources and solutions and make the Americas region a more inclusive society.

Who should attend?

The event aims at attracting active participants from the following segments in the Americas Region: Academia Civil Society Policy Makers Industry Content, Applicatives and Devices developers

PURPOSE

Encourage Governments, industry, Academy and other stakeholders to promote ICT accessibility in order to create fair and equal opportunities for ALL citizens (Persons with Disabilities, Women and Girls, the Elderly, Indigenous and others that are still unserved) and support a regional development agenda by treating ICT accessibility as a cross-cutting development issue. Target Goal: Achieve equitable communications for everyone!
