The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will be organizing a High Level Forum on Digital Inclusion and the closing of the Digital Inclusion Week in Khartoum-Sudan on the 27th of September 2018, hosted by the Telecommunications and Post Regulatory Authority (TPRA) of Sudan.
This forum will serve as the finale of several activities organized by different stakeholders across the region as part of their contribution to Digital Inclusion Week (more information on Digital Inclusion Week can be found on the link on the side). Through the sharing of experiences and solutions and by engaging a diverse range of international, regional and national stakeholders, this week will build partnerships and foster reflection. It is expected that this week could serve to enlarge the number of aware, engaged and concerned stakeholders, catalyzing and expanding the impact of ongoing regional initiatives that promote digital inclusion among all segments of society but particularly youth, women, persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, and other vulnerable and at risk groups, with the view to enhance their livelihoods and participate in the social and economic development of their communities.
The High Level Forum will gather a wide range of high level officials representing government, private sector, civil society, international and regional organizations and independent experts as well as media to shed light on particular issues on the theme of Digital Inclusion that are relevant to the Arab region. In particular, the forum will highlight stakeholder experiences and best practices on the following important topics:
- ICT Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities
- Digital Financial Inclusion
- Digital Inclusion and Education
- New Technologies and Digital Inclusion
