Spotlight Series on Human-Centric Digital Transformation

The “Spotlight Series on Human-Centric Digital Transformation" builds on the ITU Regional Development Forum for Europe (RDF-EUR) submission titled A human-centric approach to digital transformation. This initiative is rolled out by the ITU Office for Europe in collaboration with the Republic of Poland and the Czech Republic, in cooperation with all Countries of the Europe Region. The workshops will remain open to stakeholders beyond Europe.

In line with ITU Regional Initiative for Europe 2 on "Digital Transformation for Resilience," as well as Initiative 3 on "Digital Skills and Inclusion" and Initiative 4 on "Trust and Security in the use of ICTs," this series seeks to deepen the understanding of 'human-by-design' digital features. This may include ensuring accessibility, inclusiveness, protecting privacy and fostering a sense of community and collaboration.  The workshops aim to showcase concrete examples of human-centric digital transformation projects in Europe within government services, education, and health, pinpointing challenges, opportunities, and emerging trends in the field. Insights and recommendations on good practices collated during the workshops will culminate in a Compendium, aimed to inform future digital development strategies both within Europe and globally.

The Spotlight Series will comprise of three Spotlight Workshops, organized virtually on October 9th, October 30th, and November 20th. Each workshop will include up-to six 15-minute spotlight presentations on case studies and best practices on human-centric digital transformation within the Europe Region, presented by technical experts from each country. This will be followed by a 5-minute Q&A session, facilitating engagement with the presenters to explore the topics further. The workshops will strive to achieve geographic balance within the Europe Region.

A Concluding Workshop is planned for December 2023 or January 2024, gathering stakeholders from previous workshops and senior officials from participating countries to discuss final conclusions and recommendations, challenges to implementation and related solutions, as well as trends in human-centric design within digital development.

Information on each workshop will soon to be released. Should you have any queries on this initiative, please contact eurregion@itu.int
