ITU Interregional Workshop on ITU International Numbering Resources (INRs) for the Arab and Africa Regions

Introduction
At the kind invitation of National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) of Egypt, and in collaboration with ITU Regional Offices for Arab States and for Africa, the ITU Interregional Workshop on ITU International Numbering Resources (INRs) for the Arab and Africa Regions took place in Cairo, Egypt from 2 to 4 (AM) December 2018. The workshop was held back-to-back with the meeting of ITU-T Study Group 2 Regional Group for Africa (SG2RG-AFR) and ITU-T Study Group 2 Regional Group for the Arab Region (SG2RG-ARB) from 4 (PM) to 6 December 2018.​
Objectives
The Workshop on ITU International Numbering Resources for the Arab and Africa Regions sought to explore issues associated with the future use of telephone numbers (E.164 resources), International Mobile Subscription Identifications (IMSI) (E.212 resources) and Issuer Identifier Numbers (E.118 resources). The workshop covered the structure and management of these three types of resources and the known issues surrounding the use of these resources, such as numbering misuse, Calling Line Identity, and role of ITU/Member States/Operators/Service Providers, and provided attendees with the opportunity to raise their issues with the future use of the three resources. The workshop was a mixture of presentation and interactive sessions.
The working language of the Workshop was in English with translation offered in French and Arabic.

Target Group

Participation in the ITU Interregional Workshop on ITU INRs for the Arab and Africa Region was open to all and was free of charge.
