Markus Wenzel

​​​​​ Markus Wenzel is a senior scientist in the machine learning group at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin and supports the operations of the ITU/WHO focus group on "AI for health" since it was created in 2018. In his research, he is particularly interested in using machine learning to address problems from the life sciences, including brain imaging and proteomics. He received his PhD (summa cum laude) from Technical University of Berlin, for research on brain-computer interfacing. He had conducted research at École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, the Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology, and the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience, and had completed graduate studies in neurobiology, bioinformatics and biophysics (with distinction) at Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg.
