Takeshi YAMADA received a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Tokyo in 1988 and Ph.D. in informatics from Kyoto University in 2003. He joined NTT Electrical Communication Laboratories in 1988. He was a visiting researcher at the School of Mathematical and Information Sciences, Coventry University, UK, from 1996 to 1997. He was a group leader of the Emergent Learning and Systems Research Group from 2006 to 2009 and executive manager of Innovative Communication Laboratory from 2012 to 2013 at NTT Communication Science Laboratories. His research interests include data mining, statistical machine learning, graph visualization, metaheuristics, and combinatorial optimization. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
