Mandate

 

Objectives

​​The main objective of the Regional Group will be to encourage national authorities and operators from countries in Africa to work together and better contribute to ITU-T SG 13 activities in general and to Cloud Computing in particular in line with SG 13 mandate.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

  1. ​To encourage active participation of African administrations, regulators and operators in the work of ITU-T SG 13 and to report to them ITU-T SG 13 outcomes and deliverables.
  2. To establish an electronic forum to drive discussions on cloud computing implementation challenges including regulatory issues facing administrations, operators and regulators in Africa.\
  3. To establish training needs on cloud computing and future networks for operators and regulatory authorities in Africa and coordinate the organization of technical tutorials in the region on such topics with ITU-T SG 13.
  4. To encourage participation of African countries in workshops, Rapporteur meetings and other ITU-T SG13 events.
  5. To reflect the relevant priorities of the continent as per ITU-T SG 13 mandate.
  6. To encourage African countries to contribute to the development of new/revised ITU-T Recommendations on cloud computing and future networks and report on their respective "cloud computing" activities.
  7. To disseminate relevant information provided by ITU-T on cloud computing and future networks standards and document relevant use cases of cloud computing architectures and services including emerging mobile services.
  8. To provide a better follow up from and to the focal points identified on cloud computing issues and future networks in African countries.
  9. To collaborate with African Telecommunication Union (ATU).
  10. Act as a liaison body between administrations, operators, regulators and ITU-T in matters relating to cloud computing and future networks.

WORKING METHODS

​The regional group will mainly work electronically and by correspondence through designated focal points.
