The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has launched a series of publications designed to support ITU Member States to promote economic growth and job creation through digital innovation. The publications were launched this month during World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2018 (WSIS 2018).

The publications now available are:

• Digital innovation profiles for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. The Digital Innovation Profiles (DIP) are part of the ITU's new series of information and communication technology (ICT)-focused innovation ecosystem snapshots, which offer a quick assessment of the existing capacity to accelerate digital transformation and an overview of opportunities and challenges facing the countries' ecosystems.

ICT-centric innovation ecosystem country review Republic of Moldova. This report examines the dynamics of the ICT-centric innovation ecosystem in Moldova, and makes recommendations to strengthen integration of ICT innovation in the national development agenda, and leverage the economic and social opportunities provided by innovative technologies.




Good practices for developing, driving and accelerating ICT-centric innovation ecosystems in Europe. This report provides an overview of the many good practices in Europe – covering startups, government, academia, financing entities and more – towards accelerating digital transformation, which may serve as a basis for better policies in countries where gaps have been identified. Replicating and amplifying such practices can strengthen the innovation ecosystems of countries and help them achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Additionally, the following toolkit is now available in all six official United Nations languages:

• Bridging the digital innovation divide: A toolkit for strengthening ICT-centric ecosystems. The toolkit features an analysis of national ICT-centric innovation ecosystems and helps connect and share knowledge and experiences between stakeholders from different ecosystems.

"These publications and other resources highlight our commitment to working with Member States to support them in integrating ICT innovation into their development agenda to attain sustainable development," said Houlin Zhao, ITU Secretary-General.  "Innovative ICT solutions can help bridge the digital and innovation divides, creating a more equal world where more and more people can enjoy the social and economic benefits of ICT."
