The ITU-EKIP Regulatory Forum for Europe on “Universal Connectivity for a Post-Pandemic Digital Europe" was held virtually from 27th to 28th September 2021.

The Forum was organized by the Office for Europe of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services of Montenegro (EKIP). It was held within the framework of the ITU Regional Initiative for Europe on Broadband infrastructure, broadcasting and spectrum management that aims at facilitating high-speed connectivity with resilient and synergistic infrastructure development, deployment and sharing, whilst ensuring a trusted and quality user experience.

This event provided a unique opportunity for high-level dialogue between stakeholders on strategies and policies directed towards broadband development in the region, with particular attention to fixed and mobile markets, and also to the tools and frameworks at disposal of National Regulatory Authorities to ensure effective outcomes. These discussions were held having in mind the particular situation generated by COVID-19 and will look in particular at post-pandemic and recovery scenarios. In this context, the event also offered an opportunity to discuss particular actions on regulatory matters and beyond which would be needed in specific national contexts.

Representatives of European Regulatory Agencies, Ministries, Operators of electronic communications, Academia as well as all other stakeholders involved in ICT regulatory policy took part in this virtual Forum.
