The world’s foremost event promoting artificial intelligence (AI) as a driver for sustainable development will take place next May and is now open for registration.

The next edition of the AI for Good Global Summit – scheduled for 30‑31 May 2024 – will go beyond AI and robotics solutions to explore key innovations that could bring benefits to humanity.

Registration is open here.

The summit – organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with 40 other United Nations organizations and co-hosted by the Swiss government – promises to bring innovators together with humanitarian agencies seeking increased impact.

Together, they seek practical AI applications that can fast-track progress on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“This summit, as the UN’s primary platform for AI, will bring to the table leading voices representing a diversity of interests to ensure that AI can be a powerful catalyst for progress in our race to rescue the SDGs,” says Doreen Bogdan-Martin, ITU Secretary-General.

ITU – the UN agency for digital technologies – also aims to enrich the growing AI for Good movement with discussions about governance for these fast-evolving technologies.

The summit’s 2023 edition, coming amid the controversial rise of generative AI, featured humanoid robots dedicated to doing good. It also included awards for winning AI start-ups.

ITU hopes next year for another ground-breaking convergence of AI innovators and decision-makers in Geneva, Switzerland.

With options to participate either in person or online, anyone interested is invited to:

  • Learn from AI luminaries, industry leaders and UN partners;
  • Build collaboration through ‘AI for Good in Action’ and ‘Innovation Factory’ pitching sessions and inter-sectoral networking opportunities;
  • Connect with an expected 2,500 in-person participants and an online community of over 25,000 via Neural Network matchmaking and social events.

In addition to next year’s physical summit, the AI for Good year-round programme connects AI innovators with decision-makers from both the public and private sectors to scale up AI solutions on a global level.
