Summary:

This draft Recommendation try to standardize a municipal multiservice telecommunications network, including an IP network core and systems housing services and applications for remote control, security, communications, transport and traffic management and water and waste management networks, etc., These services and applications would be supported by access and transport networks through fibre optic cables communicating buildings and broadband MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) wireless networks. This would enable communication between large and medium-sized facilities, mobile communication networks for municipal police, maintenance services and so on and sensor networks to support certain control and action applications etc.
