Summary: At present, while many countries and cities worldwide recognize the importance of data as a factor of production and smart city initiatives, there exist disparities in the level of data quality evaluation and smart city maturity across different regions and municipalities. Thus, it is essential to develop standards and guidelines for evaluating the quality of data as a factor of production that underpin various smart city applications and services. Data plays a crucial role in smart cities, enabling data-driven decision-making, optimized urban planning, efficient resource allocation, and improved public services. However, the quality of data, such as completeness, accuracy, timeliness, consistency, and interoperability, can significantly impact the effectiveness and reliability of smart city solutions. This draft Recommendation focuses on the requirements for quality evaluation of data as a factor of production for smart sustainable cities. It will benefit city administrators, stakeholders, and citizens by ensuring the high quality of data across domains . By establishing comprehensive standards and best practices for evaluating data quality, this work item will facilitate the integration and harmonization of data from multiple sources, enhance the reliability of data-driven decision-making processes, and foster innovation and collaboration among smart city stakeholders. Evaluating and improving the quality of data is crucial for maximizing the potential of data, increasing operational efficiency, and creating a more livable, inclusive, and sustainable urban environment for citizens. This work item will ultimately contribute to the effective and efficient development of smart sustainable cities worldwide.
