ITU Global Symposium for Regulators fosters open dialogue

New online/mobile platform to extend networking opportunities

Geneva, 16 September 2011 – ITU has launched an online/mobile networking platform for the annual Global Symposium for Regulators which is set to meet in Armenia City, Colombia, 21-23 September 2011.

The Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) fosters an open dialogue between the worldwide community of regulators and the private sector, investors and consumers.

The Symposium will be preceded by the Global Industry Leaders’ Forum (GILF) on 20 September that will provide a top level international venue for industry leaders and investors to share their views with Regulators and policy makers.

The events are organized by ITU in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies and the Communications Regulatory Commission of Colombia.

The networking platform will enable participants to see who will be at GSR11 and connect with one another before, during and after the event, manage calendars and request meeting rooms while preserving data privacy. This service will also be accessible by mobile devices.

A “networking zone” will be set up during the event to provide participants with more space to meet in person and extend networking opportunities.

ITU encourages GSR participants to join the interactive list available here.

The networking tool is accessible only to GSR11 attendees using the registration code and email address provided to ITU.

While this service is available only in English, attendees can communicate with one another in the language of their choice. A User Guide will be available in the six ITU languages.
