Strengthening the Training Capacity of the Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (Lao PDR)

Project No 7LAO12002
Title Strengthening the Training Capacity of the Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (Lao PDR)
Description Information and communication technologies (ICT) are widely recognized as key drivers of private sector investment, employment and socio-economic development. Linked to this is the critical role that capacity building plays in supporting the dynamic ICT sector, as emphasized at the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS, Action line C04).
This project relates to Regional Initiative 1 of Asia-Pacific: Unique ICT needs of least developed countries, small island developing states and landlocked countries (Resolution 17, WTDC-10), which aims at providing special assistance to meet the priority ICT requirements of these countries.
Under this project, Lao PDR aims at strengthening its local human and institutional capacity as it relates to the country's telecommunication/ICT sector, through review and improvement/upgrade of the educational and training programs, facilities and faculty of Lao PDR's Institute of Posts and Telecommunications.
