Description The Centre of Excellence Project (7RAB02016) aims at providing sustainable and long lasting capacity building solutions for decision-makers and executive staff of the Telecommunication Sector in all regions.
In the particular case of the Arab Region the project relies on 5 leading Countries (Bahrein, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, Tunis), each one having agreed to advise on the implementation of a given CoE training programme. The project benefits from diversified in-kind contributions offered both by these leading Countries ( mainly expertise, data and logistics) and the local partners (expertise and training materials mainly).

Achievements

The main project objective was to provide capacity building of various ICT fields in the Arab region through 6 programs: Telecommunication Policies-Egypt; Regulatory Issues- Jordan; Corporate Management- Bahrain; Information Technologies/Internet- Tunisia; New Technologies and Services-Egypt and Rural Connectivity- Sudan
 
All six Coe/ARB programs were activated very well to meet the training needs in the scope of these programs. The CoE/ARB has conducted the total of 39 thirty training activities, in which more than 2300 participants from all Arab countries have attended.  Two workshops were conducted during the fourth quarter of 2001, six workshops and one virtual forum in 2002, seven workshops in 2003, eleven workshops in 2004, eleven workshops in 2006, and two in the first half of 2007. In addition the CoE has conducted two workshops to train the trainers in the COSITU methodology. In total the CoE/ARB has conducted 45 workshops and 2 train  the trainers courses.
