| Title | Assistance in the implementation of spectrum management and monitoring system | |
| Description |
This project aims to assist countries that may face challenges in effectively managing spectrum due to having limited resources such as computer-aided spectrum management system, spectrum monitoring system and human capacity. To address these challenges, activities will be carried out to introduce a spectrum monitoring system, which is inevitable in spectrum management, as well as to deploy an up-to-date Spectrum Management System for Developing Countries (SMS4DC) software. This project will also provide an easy-to-use user manual for system operators and regulators to fully utilize the SMS4DC, organize workshops, and make available EMF-related measurement results and other information, which are key, as recent wireless communications and applications such as IMT2020 (5G) expand spectrum usage to higher frequency bands. |

| Time Frame | From 1/1/2020 To 30/6/2023 | |
| Implementing Agency | International Telecommunication Union (ITU) | |
| Cooperation Agency | Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), Republic of Korea | |
| Financial Scale (CHF) | 100'000 - 500'000 | |
| Achievements |
This project supports developing countries
in upgrading and utilizing the SMS4DC spectrum management system, providing
user-friendly manuals, training for system administrators, and guidance on
designing spectrum monitoring systems and establishing EMF regulations. Key
outcomes include successful deployment of SMS4DC in at least three countries,
updated system manuals, training of over forty system administrators,
organization of workshops and symposia to raise awareness of spectrum
management and EMF issues, and the provision of design assistance for radio
monitoring systems, though uptake of this last activity was limited due to low
regional demand. |
