Description |
The ITU has launched a public-private partnership initiative to promote broadband school connectivity to serve both students and the communities in which they live. The ITU has developed an on-line toolkit to promote broadband school connectivity to ensure that youth and children have access to and use ICTs. By identifying best practices in school connectivity initiatives related to policies, regulation, applications, services and practical experiences, this proyect aims to support Suriname in the development of a National School Connectivity Plan as well as the implementation of pilot project to connect at least two schools in Suriname with computers. |

Achievements | This Project provided connectivity for the selected schools to broadband Internet services, provided individual or shared computing devices to school children, and established, in the connected schools, ICT community centers that can be used both for the socio-economic development of community members while fee-paying services enabled sustainability for the community ICT centers. Furthermore, this Project also provided relevant training for teachers, managers of the ICT centers and the trainers who will provide socio-economic relevant training for community members to enable use of ICTs in their day-to-day social and economic activities. | |
