Session 1: Managing cyber-threats: Can we stay one step ahead of the attacker?

Session 2: Civilian cyber-defense: Is enough being done to raise security IQs and to protect users?

What are the responsibilities of government and industry in civilian cyber-defense?

Session 3: Cyber-attacks: Are we ready for the battlefield of the 21st Century?
With the convenience of increasingly networked societies with no borders and our reliance on technology for virtually all types of services comes the price of vulnerability. As millions participate actively in virtual communities and with the rapidly diminishing boundaries between the physical and virtual worlds, where will the battlefield for the 21st century be?

Session 4: Global Challenges require Global Solutions: Are there any in the pipeline?

World leaders at WSIS stressed the importance of security as a key pillar for a global information society and entrusted ITU to coordinate a global response to Cybersecurity issues.  With such a large number of relevant players and an ever increasing number of threats, how can we be effective in our collaboration towards a global strategy?

Addressing the challenges related to Cybersecurity and developing solutions and strategies to meet these challenges require actions from a wide range of stakeholders from governments, industry, international organizations and civil society. This session provides an overview of current and planned activities related to WSIS Action Line C5 from different stakeholders.

14:00 – 15:30 Session 6: Meeting C5 Goals: How far are we towards meeting the goals of C.5?

Paragraph 28 of the Geneva Plan of Action stressed the need for an international performance evaluation and benchmarking to follow up the implementation of the objectives, goals and targets in the Plan of Action. Para 112-120 of the Tunis Agenda further called for periodic evaluation of the implementation of WSIS using appropriate indicators and benchmarking.

The multi-stakeholder WSIS community should agree on a way forward for both assessing the current situation and identifying ways of measuring progress towards the Goals of C5.

With less than 8 years left to meet the goals of WSIS, it is vital to measure progress towards the implementation of WSIS Action Line C.5. This session provides an overview of current activities related to measurement of WSIS Action Line C5 from different stakeholders.
