• Name/First Name: NAZAROV Anvar
• Age: 25
• Country of Origin: Uzbekistan
• Country of Study: United Kingdom
• Present Country: United Kingdom
• Current degree : Master of Science Digital Solutions (IT
Consultancy), London Metropolitan University

After graduating from Tashkent National Financial Lyceum in 2001, I decided to study and work in IT and Telecommunications. I enrolled at the Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT), the biggest academic hub in IT and Telecommunications in Central Asia. I completed my Bachelors degree in Economics in ICT in 2005 with over 90% and my Masters degree in Management of IT with 86% in 2007.

During my studies I also attended the Jyväskylä Summer School of Finland in August 2005 and I was the Country Representative from Uzbekistan in “ICT and Development: narrowing the digital divide” seminar of Development Gateway Foundation, which took place in Beijing (China) in September 2005. At that stage of my life, I tried to get involved in many activities, so I attended many conferences and seminars, and I managed to get 30 of my articles published in scientific and business journals.

In 2006 I was involved in courses for young entrepreneurs, the joint project of Westminster International University in Tashkent and British Council in Uzbekistan. By the end of the course I developed and presented a business project to establish an IT Consultancy Company, which was found to be the best business project by the program committee.

It is very important for me to apply my academic knowledge in practice. I always wanted to ensure that I kept abreast of both the academic side of IT, and the business side; I think one without the other is a far less impressive direction to travel. So, after working in several positions in IT, Telecommunications and Mass-media in Uzbekistan, I decided to specialize in IT Consultancy.

I am now studying the MSc Digital Solutions (IT Consultancy) programme at London Metropolitan University. It is a fairly unique course, because it assumes a level of familiarity with both the technical and the business process sides of IT Consultancy, so I am managing to follow by twin tracks within one specialist masters programme.

Thanks to “Youth Education Scheme” (YES) scholarship of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), London Metropolitan University and International Students House in London, I am seeing a truly international perspective on IT Consultancy and on the role IT is increasingly playing in business process re-engineering and within e-commerce and e-Government more generally.

"Anvar joined us in February of this year. He quickly integrated with the other members of the student cohort, got down to his studies and has certainly engaged well in his modules here at London Metropolitan University. He isn't afraid to ask searching questions of his module teaching team and he has been a pleasure to teach. If his engagement in his studies is anything to go by, then we look forward to some good work come assessment! He has a good command of English, a very easy going personality and always has a smile for those around him. Overall, I have found Anvar to be very competent, proactive and courteous - a good example of a Master's degree student." (Geoff Butcher, London Metropolitan University, Faculty of Computing)

“Anvar Nazarov started our MSc Digital Solutions (IT Consultancy), one of our most challenging and high profile courses, in February 2009. We were very impressed with Anvar’s academic and professional achievements described in his application and decided to match his ITU-YES scholarship with our London Met/ISH scholarship, which covers his accommodation and subsistence. Anvar is a very active, engaged and ambitious student. His diverse work experience makes him an excellent participant in discussion groups and allows him to solve problems in new and creative ways. He is inquisitive and always on the look out for new ideas and opportunities. In addition to his studies he got involved with our Accelerator project, a specialist business incubator in Shoreditch, the heart of London’s ICT and digital media hub. Accelerator is part of the entrepreneurial arm of London Metropolitan University and specializes in business development programs for high value, innovative, growing businesses in information and communication technology, interactive media, e-learning and design. Anvar is an excellent student and we are very pleased that he chose London Metropolitan University to do his Masters. Students of Anvar’s talent and ability are always welcome at London Metropolitan University” (Amelia Amon, Information and Projects Co-ordinator, London Metropolitan University).
