Summary:

The Recommendation provides an overview of the container concept describing its main characteristics and their in support of micro services. The document also identifies typical use cases related to the usage of containers and micro-services in cloud computing identifying use cases related to the support of Containers as a Service cloud service category by CSP. Based on the identified use cases, requirements and capabilities are derived regarding the support of Containers as a Service category. This Recommendation will consider the work as an open source activity initiated by Linux Foundation projects (Open Container Initiative, and Cloud Native Computing Foundation), and ETSI NFV.
Work for the containers is based on but not limited to:
" Cloud computing - Reference architecture including the roles, sub-roles and activities specified in Y.3502 ,
" Cloud computing infrastructure requirements for virtualisation described in Y.3510,
" Cloud computing framework for end to end resource and the concept of software enabled services defined in Y.3520.
