Summary: Recently, the various kinds of IoT platforms are developed for supporting various IoT applications (e.g., smart home, healthcare and smart office), the heterogeneous IoT platform environments are existed. But the interworking between IoT platforms have not been fully addressed yet, even if there are IoT platforms with similar service or cooperating service, because of these services located in different IoT platforms, the interaction between different IoT platforms is still hard to achieve. Thus, interworking is needed to provide interaction between different IoT platforms. Also, to share the information of IoT services and collaborate at service layer, service discovery for interworking supported by IoT platform is very important. Service discovery for interworking can allow an IoT application to find services offered by the other IoT platforms. However, different IoT platforms use different service discovery mechanisms, there is the need of the functionality for cross-platform service discovery between different IoT platforms. The functionality for cross-platform service discovery is important to allow IoT platforms to automatically find services in the other IoT Platforms without the need of human intervention. Thus, it is required to specify the functionality of service discovery for interworking between different IoT platforms. This draft Recommendation provides the functional architecture of service discovery for interworking between different IoT platforms in heterogeneous IoT platform environments.
