Summary: Data streaming is a method for delivering data from a source to multiple clients. Different from distributing a content, which contains predefined data such as files, a source in data streaming service continuously sends a newly generated data to the clients. The data can be independently processed, and thus each data can be considered as a distinct content. Similarly, a source of multimedia streaming service continuously sends a newly generated data to the client. However, each data cannot be processed independently in usual and the whole data generated by the source becomes one multimedia content. Consequently, the data streaming needs a signalling protocol to support the characteristics of the data. This Recommendation describes the signalling requirements for data streaming service over hybrid peer-to-peer network. The hybrid overlay network may have multiple data sources which send the different types of data. Thus, source peers and peers conduct the several specific operations for data streaming over the hybrid peer-to-peer communications, and those operations define the requirements for the relevant protocols such as overlay management protocol and peer protocol. This Recommendation includes service architecture for data streaming services over hybrid peer-to-peer network, high-level procedures and signalling requirements for the relevant protocol
