Summary: This technical report reviews the relationship between telecommunications services, namely broadband Internet services and the economic performance or stability of LAC. Specifically, this technical report proposes to identify the relationship between broadband Internet proliferation, national productivity and economic stability, by assessing broadband Internet service adoption impact on foreign reserves, import cover, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita or GDP growth rates and exports. Consequentially, this technical report illustrates the unique role of broadband services in supporting the economic performance of select LAC countries and identifies new measures of broadband Internet’s productivity and efficiency to support attaining the developmental targets of digitalization in LAC countries.
