Summary:
|
The purpose of this document is to present a trust propagation framework of a decentralized identity system based on verifiable credentials. For example, W3C VC Data Model uses the issuer-holder-verifier model.
Trust propagation framework can play critical roles in the decentralized identity system. Trust propagation is the principle by which new trust relationships can be derived from pre-existing trust relationships. In addition, it consists of DIS platform that consists of service functions and functional components for facilitating the trust propagation.
It is necessary to define a trust propagation framework for decentralized identity systems and associated components, functions and procedure in the decentralized identity management system.
This draft Recommendation provides a verifiable credential-based trust propagation framework. It also describes identifying roles of entities and metadata, functional components in the DIS platform, defining metadata for trust propagation, specifying procedure for the trust propagation and identifying threats and controls associated with its framework
