This Draft Recommendation ITU-T Y.infra presents concept and classification of city infrastructure as well as its intelligent improvement in smart city establishment.
There are a lot of city elements to be taken into consideration in building smart cities. As a key element of city, the concept and connotation of city infrastructure is very important to Smart City.
The city elements could be divided in the following categories according to the nature: Environment/Resource, Man-made landscape, Public facilities, Education/science/culture/health facilities, Administration/organization.
Another classification of city infrastructure is physical infrastructure and ICT infrastructure: Physical infrastructure (building, road, bridge, transport system, electricity facilities, water distribution system, lighting system, gas network, waste collection system etc.), ICT infrastructure(telecommunication networks, sensing networks, computing platform, data center, geographic information system, etc.)
One of the aims of smart city is to improve the efficiency and resilience of city infrastructure by means of ICT.
