Summary: Electric vehicle (EV) market is growing, and the power consumption cannot be ignored. For better tracking and management of carbon emission in smart cities, fine-granularity power usage (PU) data is required. This Recommendation provides the requirements for the electric vehicle power usage data acquisition and management. The data collected pertains to the electric vehicle's power usage process, and the smart city infrastructure, including roadside units, cellular base stations, hotspots etc., should be used for EV PU data delivery and utilization in smart city platform. Following the specified requirements, uniform electric vehicle power usage data can be acquired and managed, which can enable smart city to trace vehicle level carbon footprint as well as to provide information support to other applications e.g., power charging station planning, insurance pricing, etc. This Recommendation specifies the requirements and reference system framework for electric vehicle power usage data acquisition and management for smart city, as well as it describes some relevant reference use cases for EV PU data acquisition and management.
