Summary: With the rapid development of new technologies such as AI, there is a need for a new ITU-T Recommendation to provide an actively respond mechanism to network attacks. This Recommendation aims to address the challenges faced by service providers and network operators for actively respond mechanism in complex and dynamic network environments. The ability to provide applications or services as part of a network’s function is gradually expanding. With the addition of intelligent networks, cloud computing, and high-performance computing as essential, the capabilities of next-generation networks are expanding. In terms of providing application services, it is necessary for the network manager to arbitrarily occupy network resources or to detect and suggest uses that harm the system for malicious purposes. Unlike traditional malware or viruses, these functions are targeted differently. The target of the attack could be the network itself, running applications and disrupting service availability. This Recommendation proposes a continual learning method for intrusion detection and response to attacks or threats from AI-based attack scenarios.
