Summary: With the popularization and development of smart cities, intelligent agriculture and smart manufacturing, the connotation of the internet of things (IoT) is also expanding and is no longer limited to simple sensor data collection and discrimination. The IoT based machine vision will become one of the main development directions of the IoT which use cameras and cloud-network systems to capture the objects (including human being, vehicle, animal etc.) in real time and transmit them in the way of fusion networks and make analysis. The applications built based on the existing IoT architecture cannot perceive the cloud-network capabilities and resource distribution. Some applications are built in private network, the services unable to scale deployment, interconnectivity, and flexible expansion. The data unable to be fully utilized due to the capabilities of network and computing resource are not well managed in the IoT platform. This draft Technical Report analysis the functional architecture as well as functional entities and reference points for IoT based machine vision system.
