Background:
In a joint effort to promote accessibility, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) organized a unique Accessibility Workshop at the WIPO Headquarters for staff of the United Nations system and other International Organizations. The event was free of charge.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities entered into force on May 3, 2008. Article 9 (g) and (h) of this Convention requires that measures be taken to ensure that accessibility is taken into account in the design of new information technologies and systems.
The objective of this Workshop was to promote awareness on accessibility and encourage webmasters within the United Nations system and other International Organizations to implement accessibility in their daily work.
The event report can be found here.
Organized by ITU and WIPO.
