| Since joining NTT Labs in 1970, Dr. Matsumoto has been engaged in research and the CCITT standardization activities in the field of protocol architecture and terminal design for Facsimile, Telematics and Multimedia services and systems. He joined the Global Information Telecommunication Institute (GITI) of Waseda University, Tokyo Japan as a professor of in 1996. Now currently he is a Vice Director of GITI. In 2000-2004 study period, he became a Vice Chairman of ITU-T SG16 (Multimedia) and is also the Vice President of Infra-red Data Association responsible for Asia-Pacific Area (IrDA).
