Abstract: Optical routing and related interface requirements

This presentation reviews basic concepts of optical routing in optically
transparent networks and derives corresponding interface requirements.
In general there are well-known routing algorithms. However, two additional
issues have to be considered in optical networks, namely wavelength
continuity and limited optical transparency lengths. These two problems have
to be solved in the design of the optical interfaces and the control units.
Solutions are presented and IETF concepts are outlined.
