R.M. Agarwal, DDG(SA), TEC
Shri R.M.Agarwal, DDG(SA) is an Indian
Telecommunication Services officer of
the 1986 batch and is presently working
as Deputy Director General (Service
Application) in the Telecommunication
Engineering Centre. He is responsible
for IPV4 to IPV6 migration in the
country and IPTV standards. They have
brought out a policy document “National
IPv6 Deployment Roadmap” for India. He
has also been designated as the Central
Coordinating Officer from the Department
of Telecommunications to coordinate with
Government and Industry for IPV6
migration in the country.
He was also appointed as Editor in one
of the recommendations related to IPTV
in ITU-Study Group 12. |
Balaji TS, AVP, Tech
Mahindra
Being part of Tech Mahindra’s Centre of
Excellence for NGN Solutions & Services,
Balaji TS, currently heads IP
initiatives of the Centre such as, IMS,
IPTV, Cloud Computing (PaaS) etc. As
part of research team focused on Network
Services, he is involved in evolving
consultancy frameworks for
transformation. In last 8 years, he has
been involved in advisory services in
VoIP, SS7 signaling and network planning
to a number of customers world-wide.
In the past, he has been responsible for
traffic modelling, equipment
dimensioning, performance management &
first-line maintenance of GSM network;
the role included interconnect
management, Roaming, regulatory
approvals & VAS. He was a member of the
Technical Experts Group of the Ericsson
User Group (India).
In the past he was also involved in
production engineering & customisation
of PSTN telephone exchange software for
new feature requirements from customers. |
Harini Calamur, Director, Cogito TV
Harini Calamur has 16 years of professional experience in the areas of education, media
education, training, media and new media. She has headed brands, strategy, programming
and production, and businesses.
She is one of the three promoters of Cogito Media Pvt. Ltd – an independent Production
House that produces TV Programmes, Feature Films & Documentaries.
She is one of the producers of the award winning Marathi feature film – Jhing Chik Jhing –
that looks at the issues of agrarian debt through the eyes of a 10 year old boy, with a zest
for life.
As entrepreneur, she and her company produced a number of infomercials, Shobhaa De’s
first TV chat show - Powerr Trip with Shobhaa De – that interviewed the who’s who of
business & politics in India, and Dial One aur Jeeto – India’s first live quiz show on a Hindi
entertainment Channel. Currently the company is producing a children’s series for a
leading international television network. Cogito Media has consulted to a number of
parties including the Government of India (the science channel) in the setting up of
channels.
Prior to Cogito, Harini was instrumental in setting up the music (Music Asia) and
educational (Zed TV) channels for Zee TV. During the course of her tenure with the
company - she developed, produced and directed a number of programs and projects.
These include the landmark “A To Z” of computers program – that spawned a whole
franchise network; “The Zed Bajaj Auto Clinic” that brought contemporary training
techniques to roadside mechanics; “The Grand Tour of the Internet” that worked with
corporate giant Intel to spread Internet awareness. She was also instrumental in initiating
and closing a landmark project between the Bombay Stock Exchange and Zee Education to
spread investor awareness.
While with Zee Telefilms, she also headed brand for the 4 alpha channels (Marathi,
Punjabi, Bengali & Gujarati) – now renamed as Zee channels - and also headed special
projects including the set up of India’s first reality adventure show – RAAAH
She has produced several documentaries for the purposes of training & information
sharing, including “Development with Dignity” – a film on how women’s Self Help Groups
are transforming life in rural Maharashtra; “Lessons that Matter” – on the Post Tsunami
recovery process in South & South East Asia ; and “ To save a million” – how communities
across South & South East Asia are learning to cope with natural hazards .
She provided strategic consulting services to Sahara TV in the phase in which it became
Sahara One, and was instrumental in helping their GRP’s move from 37 to approximately
78 in a 4 month period.
Her special areas of interest are media and society and their correlation. She is currently
working on a project to see how media can be used to deliver education & training in
remote areas.
Harini also teaches various media courses as part of the Bachelor’s in Mass Media
programme run by the University of Mumbai. She is a University Chairperson and an
examiner/moderator.
She is an avid blogger, photographer & loves travelling.

Knox Carey, Director of Technology Initiatives, Intertrust
Knox Carey is Director of Technology
Initiatives at Intertrust. In this
capacity, he is active in
standardization, architecture, and
evangelism world-wide and plays a key
role in connecting technology
partnership activities with research and
development. Dr. Carey led the
architecture group in developing a
comprehensive DRM interoperability
specification at the Coral Consortium,
and has been a key contributor in other
international standards including Marlin
and MPEG. Most recently he has focused
on projects in the Asia-Pacific region,
and is currently developing initiatives
in the healthcare space. Prior to
joining Intertrust he was a research
scientist at Sony Corporation, where his
work focused on advanced audio and video
data compression. He was also VP of
Engineering at Axiomatic Corporation, a
startup in interactive TV middleware.
Knox earned his Ph.D.
in Electrical Engineering from Cornell
University and is the holder of ten US
patents. |
A.G. Dixit, Head, Development, Reliance Communications
Mr Dixit has more than three decades of
Research and Development (R&D)
experience in Indian Telecom Sector.
Currently, from 2008, he is setting up a
new Centre of Excellence for Development
of Service Delivery Platform (SDP) that
would enable creation aggregation,
transcoding and delivery of content over
Mobiles, IPTV and fixed terminals (PCs &
PDAs) in addition to developing a host
of other applications that would work on
this platform.
Prior to this new assignment, he was
Heading “Products and Services
Development Division” of Reliance
Technology Innovation Centre (RTIC),
Reliance Communications at DAKC. He was
responsible for Management and Delivery
of a large number of Innovative and
Cost-effective Products and Services.
Before joining the Private sector, Mr
Dixit was General Manager “Switching and
Value Added Services” in Centre for
Development of Telematics, (C-DoT), New
Delhi, the Technology arm of Department
of Telecommunications. During this
tenure of over 15 years, he was
responsible for the delivery of
Indigenous Switching Systems,
Intelligent Network Services, ATM and
GSM projects.
Mr Dixit joined the Department of
Telecommunications (DoT) in 1980 through
Indian Engineering Services and was
working in Telecommunications Research
Centre (TRC) and served as Director
before absorption in to C-DoT.
Mr. Dixit, after his post graduation in
Communications Systems from IIT, Roorkee,
started his career in Electronics
Corporation of India Limited (ECIL),
Hyderabad, as Technical Officer in 1978. |
Masahito Kawamori, Coordinator
of ITU-T IPTV Global Standards
Initiative
Masahito Kawamori is coordinating the
standardization activities on IPTV at
ITU-T. In addition to developing several
systems in the convergent areas of
mobile, fixed, broadcasting, and
telecommunications, he has been involved
in the standardization activities at
such bodies as TV-Anytime Forum, JIS,
DVB Forum, ARIB, OASIS, OMA, on various
areas including broadcasting, IPTV,
rights management and mobile services. |
