Tayeb Ben Meriem, European IPv6 Task Force
Dr Tayeb BEN MERIEM gained his Telecommunications Engineering degree from (Ecole
Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications: ENST) of Paris.
After 5 years in the industry, he joined France Telecom R&D in 1981. Here he
was put in charge of the first studies into WDM systems and to participate
in the European satellite "Olympus" project (propagation studies in 20-30
GHz domains)
Tayeb was Professor in the University of Paris in SDH and WDM systems &
Networks and the director of Research Lab in the Management of IP/SDH and
IP/WDM network. He has directed doctorates thesis.
Tayeb has been working in France Telecom’s Network Business Unit and was
responsible for equipment transmission policy (SDH and WDM).
Since 2000, he returned to France Telecom’s R&D Division as the head of
France Télécom's R&D Division IPv6 Skills Centre. This is a
trans-organizational IPv6 structure dedicated to all of the France Telecom
Group.
Tayeb has been France Telecom’s delegate at ITU-T in SDH, WDM, and network
management, for10 10 years.
He has also published several papers and communications. He has published a
book on SDH in 2000 in France Telecom scientific edition with Springer.

Detlef Eckert, Advisor, European Commission (EC)
Detlef Eckert is Senior Advisor to the Director General in the Directorate
General “Information Society and Media” of the European Commission in
Brussels (Belgium). In this function he deals with strategic issues,
research co-operation, and the future of the Internet.
From 2002 to 2006 he took personal leave to work for Microsoft as Director
responsible for the implementation of the Trustworthy Computing (TWC)
initiative in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Before 2002, Detlef Eckert was Head of Division responsible for analysis and
policy planning in the Directorate General Information Society; he launched
a number of key policy initiatives that contributed to the full
liberalisation of the European telecommunications markets in 1998. Other
activities included the launch of the eEurope2002 and 2005 Action Plan, the
basis for the EU's new economy strategy, which in the meantime has become
the i2010 initiative. He was also responsible for a new network and
information security policy at EU level.
Born in Germany, Detlef Eckert graduated from the University of Siegen with
a degree in Economics. He also obtained a Doctorate in Economics from the
same university where he was assistant professor from 1979 until 1985. |
Mustapha Guirari, Case Technology
MR Guirari has more than 30 years of experience especially in the Data
communication and Networking of which 11 years spent with Hewlett-Packard in
France and the United States to support networking protocols and operating
systems including customer training in different countries.
Mr. Guirari has implemented Arabic on all HP peripherals (terminals,
printers) , he developed the specifications and the operating system
procedure to support Arabic.
As a networking specialist with Hewlett Packard in the late 1970’s Mr.
Guirari has witnessed the birth of various protocols starting from
proprietary ones until the development of the current Internet Version 4.
Mr. Guirari has developed various drivers and protocol conversion between
IBM and Hewlett-Packard computers, he also taught various technologies
Related to data communication and networking such as X.25 and VoIP.
Mr. Guirari is currently the C T O for major accounts and the technical
advisor on IPv6 implementation.
Mr. Guirari has developed and conducted various IPv6 trainings and
presentations to Universities, ISPs, Oil companies, Banks and the Armed
Forces.
Mr. Guirari is a certified Ipv6 instructor and consultant for ISPs. |
Sheng Jiang, HUAWEI Technologies Co. Ltd
Dr. Sheng JIANG received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from
University College London 2005 for his excellent work on combining Grid with
IPv6 and Mobile IPv6. He started to involve IPv6-relevant work since 2001.
He joined Huawei Technologies early 2007. He is now mainly working on IPv6
research and standardization. He is active in both ITU-T and IETF. |
Eliot Lear, CISCO
Eliot Lear is a Senior Consulting Engineer with Cisco Systems with focuses on
Internet scaling and security technologies. The author of eight requests for
comment (RFCs), Mr. Lear is a vice-rapporteur for ITU-D's Q 22/1 and a
co-chair IETF's calsify working group. He has actively worked on the
economics of IP addressing. |
Gyu Myoung Lee, Electronics and Telecommunications
Research Institute (ETRI)
Gyu Myoung Lee is currently with Electronics and Telecommunications Research
Institute (ETRI), as an invited researching staff, specializing in next
generation convergence networking and standards development. Since 2007 he
is also working as a research professor in Information Communications
University (ICU), Korea. He has been working as a guest researcher in
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), USA, since 2007 and
worked as a visiting researcher in the University of Melbourne, Australia,
in 2002.
He has actively participated in standardization meetings including ITU-T
SG13, and IETF. Currently, he is an active member for developing ITU-T
Recommendations specifying IPv6 in SG13. His research interests include
ubiquitous networking and services for NGN, IPv6 protocols, and traffic
engineering including optical switching technologies.
Dr. Lee received B.S. degree in electronic and electrical engineering form
Hong Ik University, Seoul, Korea, in 1999 and M.S., and Ph.D. degree in
school of engineering from ICU, Daejeon, Korea, in 2000 and 2007,
respectively. |
Didier Le Moine, Convener, ITU-T SG2 CG on IPv6
Didier Le Moine is currently the Charge de Mission on Internet matters at
the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment (within the Service for
Information Society and Technologies, Sub-Directorate International Area).
Didier Le Moine started his career with the France Telecom Group in the
field of data and voice international networks, in 1994 in Paris, followed
by four years with France Telecom North America and three years at the
France Telecom Research and Development center in Sofia-Antipolis in south
of France. |
Martin Potts, IPv6 Forum
Martin has spent his entire career in the telecommunications business and is
the director of the telecommunications consulting company Martel, based in
Berne, Switzerland. He has worked in EC Framework Programmes (FPs) since
1985.
Specifically related to IPv6 ….. in FP5 he assisted Cisco in the management
of the project “6NET” which built the first pan-European native IPv6
network, and in FP6 he co-ordinated the IPv6 dissemination project “6DISS”,
which held IPv6 training workshops throughout the world.
In FP7, he is co-ordinating the IPv6 deployment support project “6DEPLOY”,
which will also lead the new “IPv6 Cluster”, with the aim of exploiting the
synergy between all projects working on aspects of this subject. |
Krasimir Simonski, SAITC (Bulgaria)
Dr. Krasimir Simonski is Deputy Chair of the State Agency for Information
Technologies and Communications of Bulgaria. In this competence, he is
responsible for the sector of IT in the country. Prior to this position, Dr.
Simonski was the Project Manager of Project Telecentres, which for 3 years
had become a major national asset in the Government strategy for
e-Inclusion, e-Skills, e-Government, and e-Business with innovative
solutions for management practices and IT utilization. He has a solid
business and educational background, with positions of COO at a large
US-Bulgarian company for online air-ticket reservations, and respectively,
Director of Communications and Computing at the American University in
Bulgaria for 12 years. His technology expertise is in Computer Networks,
where he defended a thesis on Voice Protocol for LAN. Currently, he is also
Deputy Chair of the Bulgarian Research and Education Network as well as a
top Cisco Networking Academy instructor, and ambitious to introduce the new
Internet technologies such as IPv6 in the country. |
Leo Vegoda, ICANN and IANA
Leo Vegoda is the Manager, Number Resources for IANA. He develops and
maintains working relationships with the five RIRs and their respective
communities; supports policy development with analysis of technical
considerations; and supports IANA operations with RIR-related technical and
communications issues.
Leo joined ICANN in November 2006 after working for over six and half years
at the RIPE NCC in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where he ran the Registration
Services department. Leo was responsible for the level of service provided
to the NCC’s four and half thousand members and was involved in formalizing
the RIPE community’s Policy Development Procedure.
Before working at the RIPE NCC, Leo worked for Demon Internet and Level (3)
Communications in London, England. Leo holds a degree in Government from the
University of Central England — Birmingham, England. |
Akhil Verma, Tiscali International Network
Akhil Verma is currently the of Head of IP Products at Tiscali International
Network. He is currently responsible for commercialisation of IPv6 services.
Over the years he has held senior roles in development, product management
and Strategy roles in several areas of the telco industry. He has been
responsible for successful commercialization of a number of products and
services on IP networks.
Prior to joining Tiscali International Network, he was working for SingTel
based in Australia heading the innovation team responsible for prototyping
and incubating emerging technologies.
Akhil holds a bachelor of Engineering from MIT – India, Post Graduate
Diploma in Business Computing from University of Western Sydney and Business
Management from Australian Graduate School of Management. |
