CVs of the speakers

Pierre-André PROBST 
holds a Master of Sciences (Ing. Dipl) in electrical engineering from the Federal High School of Technology in Zurich (ETH)/Switzerland
During 15 years in the research and development division of Swisscom, he worked as Scientist and Engineer responsible for projects dealing with the digitalisation and the introduction of optical transmission technology in the swiss network.
From 1989 to 1992, as head of Division he was responsible for the design, planning, realisation and operation of the transmission network.
In 1992 he was appointed Director of operations for the Region of Geneva. His duties included the management of the regional entity and of the customer care of more than 300'000 residential and business customers.
In 1996 he joined again the Headquarters of the company and took over the responsibility of the network division as Executive Vice-President and member of the executive board, participating actively to the turnover of the company and to the IPO.
During these 30 years he represented also Swisscom in several standardisation bodies (CEPT, ETSI, UIT) as experts and leader of working parties and Study Groups.
Since 2000, he is acting as independent consultant in Multimedia applications and technologies. In particular, he has a mandate to represent Swisscom interest in various ITU and ETNO entities. He is at present Chairman of ITU-T SG16 “Multimedia Systems, Services and Terminals”.
