Volker LEISSE
Institute for Communications Technology, Braunschweig Technical University

After studying electrical engineering with focus on communications technology at the Braunschweig Technical University, Germany, and the Georgia Institute of Technology, U.S., Volker Leisse joined the Institute for Communications Technology in Braunschweig. In its function as the Center of Competence for the European Cable Communications Association (ECCA), the Institute represents ECCA in several technical projects. Volker is a Project Engineer in this working group and has been involved in various activities with regard to communications systems for cable TV networks and architectures for multimedia services. The activities range from the development of specification, the certification and validation of products to contributions to regional and international standardization. Volker took part in the ECCA activities with regard to IPCablecom from the beginning and represents European cable operators in Study Group 9 of ITU-T where he has accepted the role of an Associate Rapporteur.

Additionally, Volker has contributed to several European research projects such as IBCoBN and CASSIC aiming at the further evolution of cable communication systems. His research interests include the architecture of IP based communication systems for cable access networks and protocol design for multimedia services with Quality of Service.
