 Workshop on the Profiling Requirements for the Feasibility Study on Establishment of Electronic Communications Equipment Type Approval Testing Laboratory

Programme

Day 1, 25 June 2009
(Whole day) Plenary Session
  • Presentation on the goal and purpose of the TAL and detail the elements for which they need type approval (to test if the equipment responds to the technical characteristics required by the customer and that may contain parameters and figures as shown in the relevant standards);
  • Presentation to specify regulatory environment for type approval to ensure a “good” process and enforcement;
  • Presentation by experts that will elaborate different testing methodologies as mentioned above, with emphasis on its purpose, required testing environment and configurations, required test & measurement equipment;

ITU Experts will guide the discussion on which electronic communications areas shall be covered by type approval procedures, for example which networks and services, technologies and network equipment shall be considered for type approval and the wish/priority list of equipment for type approval.

Day 2, 26 June 2009
 (Morning till lunch break) Separate working groups

The purpose of the work groups is detailing the check list of electronic equipment, as candidates for type approval and to which testing methods, base and testing standards shall be applied for type approval for the listed equipment. The ITU Experts will prepared a list of standards and parameters that are commonly tested for conformity and interoperability, participants will prepare the list of parameters as requested by the customer for local needs.

  • Fixed Networks and Services
  • Broadcasting Networks and Services.
(Afternoon) Plenary Session
  • Preparation of the workgroup results
  • Wrap-up and decision on further progress of the project
  • Conclusion of the pre-workshop
