Dr. Basem Higazy is a medical doctor and entrepreneur, currently serving as the co-founder and CEO of Consulto, a Swiss-based startup focused on transforming healthcare delivery. Consulto aims to democratize personalized medicine and promote value-based care, utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning to design personalized healthcare journeys and optimize patient pathways. The platform specializes in creating virtual clinics for complex health conditions and promotes virtual team-based care.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Higazy worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) on healthcare transformation and health workforce development. During his engagement with the WHO, he founded the Global Health Network Youth Hub, the first initiative to involve multidisciplinary healthcare students and young professionals in WHO’s global policymaking. He also organized the first WHO youth forum for human resources for health and coordinated the first youth declaration at the WHO, focusing on health workforce development and transformation.

Dr. Higazy’ obtained his medical degree from Kasr Al Ainy, Cairo University. He holds a Master of Science in Global Health from the Global Health Institute at the University of Geneva and a Master of Art in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, with a specialization in global health governance and health policy-making. His research has concentrated on applying system thinking theory and complex adaptive systems to health system transformation, particularly in health workforce development and mobility.
