The ITU, in collaboration with the IEEE, is currently developing the “Global Observatory for Urban Intelligence” (GOUI). The GOUI is being created using crowd-sourcing collaborative tools on an open-source cloud platform. Its components will be released in multiple phases, from smart city ontology, correlation, data gathering, modelling and AI/ML. For each phase, open-source tools will be used where possible to automate processes, and the results will be tried and tested across global focus groups.
This initiative is expected to have participation from private sector experts, representatives from leading research institutes, academia, smart city networks, civil society, NGOs, UN agencies and other relevant stakeholders.
