Biographies

Drake Patrick Mirembe holds a PhD in information systems security from the University of Groningen, a Masters in Computer System Security from Radboud University all in the Netherlands, and BSc Computer Science and Mathematics from Makerere University. Dr. Mirembe holds a numerious professional certifications including; innovation management, cyber security, project planning & management, organization leadership & development, scientific writting, wireless & mobile technologies, CCNA, CCAI, data science, ICDL among others. Dr. Mirembe runs a dual-career working both in the industry and in the academia spanning over 18 years. In the industry Dr. Mirembe has worked with a number of organizations both public and private, local and international including; Microsoft Corporation as Manager, Microsoft Innovation Center Uganda, Cisco Systems, as Manager Cisco regional Academy, and The International Telecummication Union (ITU) as chair for ITU centers of excellences for Africa. In academia he works with Makerere University, College of Computing and Information Sciences as Lecturer and Research in the Department of Networks, Head is the founding head for the Centre for Innovations and Proffessional Skills Development and Founding Manager Microsoft Innovation Centre, All housed at COCIS Makerere University. He established the Engaged Scholars Academic Network (ESCANET), currently hosted at COCIS. Dr. Mirembe has worked Eight Tech Consults as Senior ICT Consultant (which he co-founded in 2006), Radix Management Consults, organization development and data scientists, Bankshire Technologies as a consultant. Dr. Mirembe has been at the forefront in the development of uganda’s ICT innovation sub sector and has been responsible (as amentor and founder) for a number of ground breaking innovations in ICT sector including; Winsenga, ClinicMaster, Matibabu mobile, SUFACE, Wekebere, Viaz Vitum, among others. Dr. Mirembe is a thought after leader in the development and integration of ICT4agric on the continent. Dr. Mirembe has co-authored a number of publications in international forums in areas of; cyber security, ICT4Agric, ICT integration, commputer science, innovation management among others. Dr. Mirembe is one of the thought after leaders in the ICT sector in the region. His research interests include; Cyber Security, ICT4D including agriculture, ICT integration, mobile and wireless technologies, Artifical intelligence, data science, innovations and entrepreneurship acceleration among others.
