Summary

H.248 media gateways may support interfaces with packet-switched networks (via ephemeral terminations). Such types of bearer connections could be subject to traffic control mechanisms. Recommendation ITU-T H.248.53 provides three H.248 packages addressing traffic management, traffic policing and packet size control. This Recommendation focuses on the traffic policing function.
