SummaryTelecommunication networks require proper allocation of network infrastructures and planned periodic maintenance to deliver services quickly and efficiently to minimize out-of-service risk and to guarantee service level agreement satisfaction. It is important to focus on the issue of optical fibre-based infrastructures and the huge amount of transmitted information. Network infrastructures that undergo allocation and maintenance operations can differ in terms of positions, dimensions, services, field work and scheduled times for periodic planned maintenance. Identification (ID) technology can be applied to solutions that focus on the proper management of network infrastructure. The ID uniquely identifies an element of interest in terms of its allocation and maintenance. The second edition of ITU-T L.360 added the description about the functionality of an OSS to build the connection relationship based on ID tags information. Furthermore, a new appendix dealing with advanced technologies used for network infrastructures management is added. |
